There are teachers who enter our lives with a lesson plan, a book, a blackboard and a classroom. And then there are teachers who never stood in a classroom. They come as people, as circumstances, as journeys, as moments of silence. Sometimes, they come disguised as difficult chapters we never expected to live through.

This Teacher’s Day, I find myself bowing down to all of them. To every teacher who helped me navigate an unexpected chapter of life and helped me emerge stronger — head held high, heart full, and feet grounded.

The forest taught me to grow quietly and deeply. Walking among trees has a way of reminding us that growth does not always need to be visible. Some of the strongest roots grow silently beneath the surface, patiently building what eventually allows a tree to stand tall. The flowers taught me that softness is not weakness. There is a quiet strength in remaining gentle, even when life has given you reasons to harden.

The birds taught me to trust my wings. At some point, you have to stop waiting for certainty and simply learn to fly. The mountains taught me strength, patience and perspective. Standing before something ancient and immense has a way of putting our own worries into their rightful place. Some things take time. Some distances have to be walked. And not every summit needs to be reached in a hurry.

The animals I met along the way taught me innocence, presence and unconditional love. They don’t carry yesterday into today or spend too much time worrying about tomorrow. They simply exist fully in the moment. There is something deeply humbling about that kind of presence.

The sea and its waves taught me to let go and begin again. A wave does not resist its own nature; it rises, breaks, retreats and returns. The Himalayan rocks taught me resilience. They have stood through seasons, storms and centuries, holding their ground. They reminded me that resilience isn’t always about fighting. Sometimes, it is simply about remaining steady.

The rain taught me that even storms can cleanse and renew. What feels disruptive in the moment can sometimes leave the world looking clearer afterwards. And fire taught me transformation — that sometimes we have to burn what no longer serves us, not out of anger, but out of acceptance. To let something end, to make space for something new, and to rise again carrying the wisdom but not the weight of what came before.

The sunrise and sunset taught me that every ending carries the promise of another beginning. There is something reassuring about watching the day disappear and knowing that another morning will come. The clouds taught me that nothing stays forever. They gather, change shape, drift away and make room for something else. Perhaps life is much the same.

The old monuments and carvings taught me that what we build with purpose can outlive us. Time changes everything, but meaningful work, meaningful relationships and meaningful contributions can leave traces far beyond our own lifetime. They remind us that we are only temporary custodians of the time we have been given, and that what we choose to create with it matters.

And then there is Silence. Perhaps the greatest teacher of them all. Silence taught me to listen within — to sit with my own thoughts without immediately trying to escape them, to understand that not every question needs an immediate answer, and that not every silence needs to be filled. In silence, I learnt to hear things I had been too busy to notice.

And somewhere through all of this, I began to understand that the Divine, the Universe, and life itself are constantly teaching us. Sometimes through beauty. Sometimes through loss. Sometimes through people who enter our lives for a season. Sometimes through journeys we never planned. And sometimes through chapters we would never have chosen for ourselves. But each one leaves something behind — a lesson, a little more wisdom, a little more courage, and hopefully, a little more humility.

Today, I am grateful for every teacher, seen and unseen. For those who taught me deliberately, for those who challenged me, for those who held me when I needed it, and even for those who walked away and unknowingly taught me how to walk on my own. I am grateful for the places that changed something inside me, for the experiences that gave me strength, and for the quiet moments that taught me who I am when nobody is watching.

Today, I bow my head in gratitude to every teacher who shaped me, challenged me, grounded me and helped me become who I am today.

Thank you. And Happy Teacher’s Day. ❤️
